About Etta Jewels

From the office to the workshop.

Growing up I wanted to be a barmaid, something I managed to tick off early on in my working life. Next on my career wish-list was marine biologist, but my fear of deep water and dislike of swimming amongst fish put a dampner on that idea. One thing I knew for sure though, was that I didn’t want to work in an office. So when I left university and entered the real world, I got myself a job in – you guessed it -  an office.

I spent the next 17 years working in corporate environments and then one day I had an opportunity to completely re-think my working life. I hadn’t forgotten the fact I’d never wanted to work in an office (and still had a dislike of deep water), and I really wanted to do something creative, something completely different and something with more flexibility to enjoy time with my family.

So I decided to go back to school, something my then 7 year old son found utterly hilarious. I enrolled at the British Academy of Jewellery and spent a fun few years studying jewellery design and manufacturing in the heart of the London jewellery scene, Hatton Garden. I soon discovered that jewellery making is a fascinating mix of maths (my 12 year old self would be amazed that I actually use Pi on a regular basis), science and of course the more creative side of things.

I now have a small but perfectly formed workshop and run my own jewellery business. I love to work with clients to help them create something beautiful for someone special in their lives as well as design and make my own creations – mostly things I’d like to wear myself!

I really hope you, or someone you love, enjoy wearing my jewellery as much as I’ve loved making it.
